Who is James Beatty?....Brother of Anne Beatty?!
James Beatty was present during the wedding of Anne Beatty & William Armstrong, Jr in 1847. (See wedding registry below.)
According to a note in the old Armstrong Family Bible, James Beatty died May 7th, 1888 age 71. That estimates his year of birth circa 1817.
(Reg, in Donegal, Apr.-June 1888 Vol.2 Pg.28 Film #101594)
His headstone is photographed in the Laghy Cemetery, located immediately behind the Armstrong headstone.
His headstone also reads: In Memory of James Beatty, Late of Dublin, Died.....

Since he was born within a couple years of Anne Beatty, I think it's safe to assume he was a very close relative, possibly a brother. We'll have to include him in our search!
RESEARCH UPDATE 4.22.13 ....HOT OFF THE PRESS!...
Just received a reply from Rootschats.com that may shed some light on James...
Hi,
Came upon this post and see you have the Armstrong & Beatty families coming from Donegal but on the marriage cert on your blog the marriage takes place in county Fermanagh in the Parish of Aghalurcher. The brides residence is given as Moat which I think is in or near Lisnaskea where the marriage took place the groom is from somewhere that looks like Cartown or Cortown which maybe Carntrone, a townland just to the north of Moat
You also ask about a James Beatty, a witness on the Cert.' A James Beattie age 23 was married in the same year 1847, the marriage was recorded at Enniskillen Reg district, Fermanagh his father was also a William Beattie
*I'd love to hear from anyone who is researching this James Beatty!
(Marriage Registry of Anne Beatty & Wm Armstrong with Wm. Armstrong, Sr & James Beatty as Witness'.)
