In the last month, I've added two new pages to our site as I've expanded my studies into new research. Irish Resources & Websites is exactly what it sounds like. Among all the web browsing I've been doing, these are some of the best "hot spots". These focus primarily on Armstrong & Beatty families but also include many other Irish families.
Beatty Resources is still relatively new but still contains great info.
We actually received our first inquiry last week from a Beatty family member who has been tracing his Family History in Fermanagh, Ireland through a DNA Project. We are excited to hear from Preston & hope to assist one another in bringing our information together.
In October, I also started creating a Google Map of Armstrong & Beatty families across Ireland & Scotland. My hope is that we'll be able to identify record sources based on family movement. Once completed, you'll be able to click on the map to view family info. dates, & place names as well as the source of our information. I've already come to understand a great deal more about why family members are buried where they are based on where they lived. I also have new theories that the Beatty & Armstrong families were also greatly involved as "Flax Growers"which may be how the two families first met! Further documentation is required to confirm this idea but we'll keep everyone posted.
Rumors are that a trip to Ireland may be in the works for next year! That's right, a group of our Armstrong descendants from New Zealand are discussing the possibilities following the recent Armstrong Reunion. I'm hopeful we can all come together to connect a few missing dots before then. If you have new info, I'd love to hear from you!
